When you're selecting a lighting fixtures to add to a room in your home, you should consider the rest of the furniture or decoration in the room. Keep in mind that the colour of the light fixture will affect the way the light is shown in the room. If you choose tan or off-white fixture, or even fixtures with bolder colours like blue or red, the light in the room will have a slight tint to it, which could make the room warmer and more inviting.
