Lighting |
When you're selecting a lighting fixtures to add to a room in your home, you should consider the rest of the furniture or decoration in the room. For instance, if you have antique pieces or artwork in a room, a light fixture that reflects the same type of style is best. If the room you want to add the lighting fixture to is filled with contemporary art and furniture, modern light fixtures in more of an abstract or spotlight style may compliment the room best.
Be as original as possible when selecting room lighting fixtures.
Fixtures that are in different shapes, like pieces of fruit, plants, or even animals can add a unique touch to your room that you probably won't find anywhere else. The more space the lighting fixture covers on the wall will determine how the light is dispersed throughout the room, so keep this in mind when you're deciding whether you want the room to be dimly or brightly lit. For instance, lighting fixtures with more of a chandelier style to them will make the light in a room spread a little more evenly, and large fixtures that are closer to the bulb will make the room slightly dimmer.
You can also choose lighting fixtures in which you place more than one bulb. This is best for dramatic lighting, or if you want to showcase something in the room, such as a piece of original or famous artwork, or a beautiful plant or flower arrangement. Multi-bulb fixtures are most common in the kitchen and bathroom of homes, since multiple bulbs tend to make the room brighter, and you're able to see more detail if you looking in the mirror or preparing a meal.
However, you can still choose other fixtures for these rooms, like large swivelling lamp styles, or contemporary angular light fixtures with large covering and metal bordering. You can also choose much smaller lighting fixtures for the office in your home, or to highlight photographs or cabinet spaces. These lights can be a little brighter, so that you can read or write using this light without turning on any other lights in the room. You can find unique designs for these fixtures as well; often times, full-size light fixtures are available in smaller replicas.
Keep in mind that the colour of the light fixture will affect the way the light is shown in the room. If you choose tan or off-white fixture, or even fixtures with bolder colours like blue or red, the light in the room will have a slight tint to it, which could make the room warmer and more inviting.
You can also choose the colour of the bulbs you'd like to include in the lighting fixtures-sometimes collared bulbs work well together when they are matched with light fixtures with a bit of a tint to them.
